Daily Dose of Magic – Pop Haydn “The Mongolian Pop Knot”

As I think about what routines to have in my act, although I love doing “Ropes Through The Neck,” I’m still thinking about doing something else instead. I’ve got Pop’s booklet on this routine, and it’s a consideration, even though so much of this routine is just the Pop Haydn personality shining through. Even if I didn’t use anything else from the routine, though, I am so using the Pixie Dust lines.

  1. Thanks for your kind comments. You should try it. It is a well-structured routine, and powerful magic regardless of the character performing it.

I did it with an entirely different character before I became Pop, with the same exact same script. Many people have used this routine with their own personalities and received a great response. You should give it a try!

    1. I think what I’ve been also trying to decide was whether or not to work on a Three Rope Trick variation for busking or for stage. I’m going to try doing the retirement home circuit in addition to busking this year, so if I develop it for that stage, your routine probably will be a starting point for me. Of the variations on that theme, it’s probably my favorite. Busking-wise, the main issues are the amount of rope I’ll go through in the hours I’m out, which means more to bring along. Plus, the length of time. If I can get to an area where I can work a nice-sized circle show, it would be an excellent closer. I have to admit, though, even though I may never perform your routine, your Linking Rings are easily my favorite presentation to watch. The only reason why I wouldn’t perform your routine would be the personal feeling that I was only doing a poor imitation. Kinda like doing the Mona Lisa in crayon. Left-handed.
